What is it about?
This is one of Brown’s more recent books and it’s focused on our individuality. Brown argues that knowing and loving ourself first makes it okay to not require that sort of validation from others. Therefore, not needing this allows us the freedom to embrace our real and authentic selves. This in turn results in our most fulfilling life.
Why should I read it?
I’d recommend this book for leaders who struggle with the line between having to manage others but still want to be liked by those very same people at work. Or, soloists who might struggle to feel they fit-in at networking events. Braving the Wilderness gives you permission to stand alone and strategies to make that easy to choose. Paradoxically, it’s this power that also facilitates genuine connections with others and Brown details how this is possible in this book.
Is it a challenging read?
No, it’s a relaxing read written in a conversational style. It is also full of stories and reflective exercises if you choose to do them.
