What is it about?
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) was a term popularised by the release of this book. Although it is some years old now, the concepts presented in the book remain timeless. Goldman explores the psychology of connecting with others and argues that high EQ allows us to read non-verbal and verbal cues more easily and therefore respond more empathetically. Gerber argues that employing EQ strategies helps us to be better leaders and team members at work.
Why should I read it?
If you are looking to improve relationships, influence others or enhance connections this is a terrific book to read. The psychology behind working with others is explored in detail in this book.
Is it a challenging read?
Yes – it is a complex read that may seem overwhelming and dry at first but hang in there! It’s worth the effort and attention required to get the most from it. There are a range of great practical strategies provided in the book too.
