Pre-loved fair - this book has been well loved before! It may have a damaged cover, creased pages, some highlighting throughout (yay! saves you reading time!) and some marks in on the page borders. However, the message in the book itself remains valuable.
What is it about?
Bailey argues that we need to use our intention to focus our attention. Intention is a powerful way to minimise distractions and overwhelm. Hyper Focus identifies four different types of distractions and provides ideas of how to manage each one (buy the book to learn what they are!). He cleverly discusses meditation as a tool to refocus the mind, and coins the term "scatterfocus" to highlight the benefits of letting the mind wander at times. It's an cognitive view of productivity at work.
Why should I read it?
This is another productivity book but worth a read if you need a fresh approach to focusing at work. If you've read the pragmatic how-to method books but still struggle with productivity, this is an excellent next read.
Is it a challenging read?
Okay, pardon the pun but this book does require some focus!
