What is it about?
This is a book about navigating corporate change. Fullan uses a combination of case studies and research to frame change as a learning opportunity in organisations. He addresses the importance of moral purpose, sharing vision, fostering learning and team cohesion. He does draw a lot of an educational perspective so be prepared to broaden the approach to your own context.
Why should I read it?
Leading in a Culture of Change is a great book for people who are charged with leading a team during a turbulent business period. I think it’s a good reference book to bring a new perspective to the leadership of change.
Is it a challenging read?
Once again, be prepared to adapt the examples provided in the book to your own situation. It’s not an overly challenging book but I didn’t find it too deep either, so that might be a good thing. It is certainly a good introduction to think about the frameworks that help leaders to navigate change at work.
