What is it about?
Gail Kelly is a successful senior business leader who was the first female CEO of an Australian bank – Westpac. Live, Lead, Learn is a book about Gail’s work experience and the lessons she has learned as she became one of our most important and prominent business leaders. The book covers all the key elements Kelly has identified as important when building a career, and she has included the mistakes she made along the way too. It’s a very insightful and frank biography that may benefit other women following her path and are looking to develop their corporate career.
Why should I read it?
This book is recommended if you are an aspiring leader or looking for additional advice for the leadership position you are currently in. It is a mixture of memoir drawn from personal experience and general leadership advice. It’s a worthwhile read if you struggle with delegation and prioritisation of work. These are two areas Kelly addresses as part of her work experience.
Is it a challenging read?
This is a relatively easy book to read and it is very well presented. There are lots of personal stories shared in the book and that made the concepts easier to follow.
