What is it about?
This is a terrific book focused on exiting a business. Written in 2010, a lot of the themes of the book remain very current for today’s market. Martin Checketts is an Australian lawyer who specialises in the sale of family businesses. This book covers all the key topics needed to prepare a business for sale, what a buyer will be concerned about and various ways a business can be sold. This is a book every business owner needs when they start their business – not when they are leaving it!
Why should I read it?
If you have a plan to exit your business at some stage (and who doesn’t!) you need to read this book. The Strategic Exit has a great exit strategy checklist at the back of the book. It’s a very useful planning tool. Each chapter also has a good summary of the key points, making it easy to review and think about for your own business exit.
Is it a challenging read?
This is a very engaging read and easy to navigate. It makes complex subjects easy to understand and the design of the book is very easy to follow.
